Migration Patterns
In the past most of Sudbury's immigrants have come for Northern and Southern Europe. These immigrants came from Italy and the Ukraine. Many Italian immigrants came before the First World War and then after the Second World War. In 1896 Ukrainians started migrating to Sudbury and they became the largest ethnic group in Sudbury just larger than the Italian population.
Inner Province Migration
The highest immigrant population in Ontario is in Toronto with 37.4% which is 2,537,405. Sudbury is home to 9,755 immigrants. This is about 0.1% of Canada's total immigrant population. However, before 1965 Sudbury had the greatest immigrant population with 45% because of the booming mining industry. Currently the cities with the highest immigrant population is Toronto, Windsor, Guelph, Hamilton, and Kitchener .
The highest ethnic population in Sudbury is British isle origins and Canadian. The second largest ethnic population in Sudbury is french Canadian. The aboriginal population in Sudbury is about 14,605 people and the Metis population is 7,280 people. The smallest population in Sudbury is American with only 1,150. The dominant religion in Canada is Christianity with 9 out of 10 people being Christian and 65% f the Christian population is Catholic.
Future Migration
I think in the future there will be more immigrants in Sudbury because Canada accepts a lot of immigrants each year. I predict there will be more immigrants from Europe and Asia.
